Worldwide Hardware Pty Ltd warrants that the products it sells will be free from mechanical defects within 12 months of the date of proven purchase. During this period, Worldwide Hardware will, at its sole option, repair or replace any defective products at no charge to the purchaser (fair wear and tear is excepted).

In addition to the above general warranty, Worldwide Hardware also offers a range of products that have specific time period guarantees (for example, 5 or 7 years) against mechanical defects. This can be found on the back of the packaging of that range of products. An example of those guarantee details is as follows:

5 Year Warranty

This product is warranted to be free from mechanical defects for 5 years from the original date of purchase. If mechanical defects occur, simply return to the dealer with “proof of purchase” for replacement. WORLDWIDE HARDWARE Pty Ltd IS NOT LIABLE WHERE AN ACCIDENT CAUSES CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES. The above described warranty is exclusive and in lieu of all other warranties, expressed or implied, and the customer’s sole remedy shall be to return the product for repair or replacement.

In addition to this guarantee, our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and for compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

Exclusions

The Guarantee only applies to defects which have arisen solely from faulty materials or workmanship in the product; and the company shall be under no liability if the following occurs:

  • Not comply with the fitting instructions provided with the products;
  • Repair or alterations of the product without authorisation by the company;
  • Costs of installation, removal or replacement of the products;
  • Fair wear and tear, abuse or misuse, abnormal stress or accidental damage of the products;
  • Product contact with corrosive substances or to high salt content environments such as coastal location that damage the product or finish.
  • Personal injury or death, economic loss or property damage of any kind whatsoever as a result of use or installation of our products, are not covered by this guarantee.

Guarantee Claims

Any defective product must be returned to the place of purchase with a copy of original purchase receipt within one month of the defect being found. If the product is unable to be returned or the costs of returning goods are excessive or unreasonable, please contact Worldwide Hardware Pty Ltd on 03 9318 0073 so that we can arrange a collection (if appropriate) or on site inspection or ask for photo evidence of defect product.

How to Care and Clean Stainless Steel

The stainless steel products listed as “304 Grade” in this catalogue have the following characteristics:

Stainless type 304 is an austenitic steel, containing 18 - 20% chromium, 8 - 10.5% nickel, combined with a maximum of 0.08% carbon.

The stainless alloy resists most oxidising acids and can withstand all ordinary rusting. However, it will tarnish or rust over time. A major cause of stainless steel corrosion is from being dirty. The dirt can disrupt the protective chromium oxide that forms on the surface. This oxide keeps the stainless steel from rusting or corroding. Therefore, regular cleaning is important to help in preventing rusting.

For severe environments such as salt water spray in coastal areas, a higher level of resistance to corrosion is required. Stainless type 316 is the required.

Stainless steel is easy to clean. Washing with soap or a mild detergent and warm water followed by a clean water rinse and wipe dry with clean cloth.

For stubborn stains and discoloured finishes, wash with mild cleaning solutions, e.g. Jif, or specialty stainless steel cleaners. Use a rag, sponge, or fibre brush, soft nylon, or natural bristle. Never use steel wool on stainless steel. An old toothbrush can be useful, rinse well with clean water and wipe dry.
